About Us

PORT ORANGE FLORIDA MODELERS CLUB

Objectives of the club are:
  • Promotion of  static and remote control (RC) model ship and boat building, and
  • Meeting with fellow modelers for the purpose of encouragement and assistance by way of exchanging ideas, demonstrating techniques and sharing experiences.
Our members range in modeling experience from those recently in the hobby to master model builders.
We meet the fourth Saturday of each month except December at the Port Orange Library. Meetings normally last about two hours and each meeting has a featured program. For example:
  • a presentation or demonstration of building techniques by a club member or guest
  • a discussion on topics of interest to model makers
  • an auction of modeling tools and materials
  • a regatta at which members and guests sail their models in a nearby lake
  • a display of models built by club members
The regatta and model ship display show are always well attended by the general public.

In addition to regular monthly meetings, members can choose to attend other meetings (not at the library) at which they can jointly and cooperatively build a model. These sessions are great hands-on learning experiences and opportunities to socialize with fellow modelers.

If you are a model builder, want to learn the hobby or are just interested in models of ships and boats, you are welcome to attend meetings and are very welcome to become a member.

  1. Do you buy model boats that need to be assembled? I have one which has been started, but has lain in my closet for years. I need to get rid of it and give it a second life. It is a Scientific Sea Master Delux Model Kit Sport Fisherman. It is free running or radio controlled. Length: 27" / width 8 1/8" All marine hardware and fittings included. It is approx. 40 yrs old. Not missing any pieces and in original box. Please send response to: twva45@gmail.com

    Thank you.
